Hopi Reservation
in Arizona
April 2003
Stay at the Hopi Cultural Center Motel. Room was clean and comfortable,
but
at $95 a night, slightly expensive.
The restaurant was good, and I enjoyed
the Hopi Taco and Hopi Stew (mutton).
Was there on a Sunday, and the
museum was closed, as well as the
tours of the villages.
The Hopi continue to live a traditional way of life. We found, like all cultures in America, they are torn between the traditional and the current:
- Some of the homes do not have
electricity
- We saw very nice schools and
hospitals
- There were signs for HipHop dances
on both the Navajo and Hopi reservations.
